About
Our Mission
“To help academically promising city high school students with financial need reach their dreams.”
We fulfill our mission by providing financial resources and a support network so that students continue to believe in themselves, see possibilities and engage in broader life experiences. Our support helps these dedicated students:
• Purchase personal items including books and school supplies.
• Pay for vocational training courses, and college applications.
• Participate in enriching field trips and after-school experiences.
• Work fewer hours at a part-time job so that they have more time to focus on their studies.
• Get the guidance they need to solve problems and stay on track.
RCSF knows how important dreams are. In addition, we know that ninth graders have the highest dropout rate and lowest attendance. That is why RCSF reaches out to eighth graders and provides resources throughout high school to those who qualify.
RCSF was initially established in 1916 as the Rochester Memorial Children’s Fund when students found it necessary to go to work to help with family finances. The fund provided financial support to students as a means of keeping them in the educational system. It also served as a living memorial to those serving in World War I.
